Located in a growing residential neighborhood in Dubai, EA Residence is a 20,000 sq.ft home designed as an ode to Juliana and her family of six. The home was designed as a personification of the occupants- to-be who have lived in the UAE for their whole life as a part of the Lebanese disaspora. Tied between two identities, EA Residence marries these qualities and unifies them. It embraces their love for sharing life and negotiates it with the privacy encased in a home by exploring the qualities of a veil. A veil that peels aways to shape shadows that evolve hour by hour and by curvilnear forms that reveal and conceal spaces. It responds sensitively and contextually to the privacy simultaneously required to maintain the intimacy of a home. With this in mind, it was crafted inside out and in doing so, hollows out a part of its center for a courtyard that, in the arab world, has become the symbol for a family gathering space.
