Dhaka, Bangladesh
2024
Scope: Research Project
The Lost Genention' Trauma and Rehabilitation Shelter addre-ses the endemic issue of gang violence and the threat of natural disasters at the Rohingya Refugee Camps in Bangladesh. It seeks to provide a cyclone shelter that rethinks the Bengali Government's reg ulations for this disaster typology by providing access to a dignified refuge through remporary means.
When not in use as a shelter, it serves as a multigenerational training center where adolescent boys, between the ages of 12-18 who are often left strectside become targets of gang recruitment, can continue their primary education while learning both traditional and contemporary skills that may enable a reintegration back into active societys
The building, designed in modular units, is able to be replicated across multiple sites, scales and conditions. In leaming this craft and others, young men are equipped with agency to build more resilient homes and mini shelters that allaviare the stress of one centralized point of shelver for the camp. Ultimarely, the project generates a territorial infrastructure which provides education, refuge and dignity for Bangladesh's nos vulnerable population.
